Four brothers prove innocence and love for family in “The Good Son”

Witness the unusual case of love for family in ABS-CBN’s much-anticipated family drama “The Good Son,” where four sons fight for their right and seek justice beginning Monday (Sep 25) on Primetime Bida.

“The Good Son” will surely play on viewers’ minds every night as its story centers on four brothers who come from different families and search for the truth to prove their innocence in their father’s sudden death.

Rising teen star Joshua Garcia plays the role of Joseph, Racquel’s (Mylene Dizon) kind and responsible son, who does everything to give his family a good life. His brother Obet (McCoy De Leon) is his partner-in-crime, who brings them laughter and serves as their source of happiness.

They live a simple, happy life even if they are not with their father Victor (Albert Martinez), who keeps their identity a secret, even to his legitimate sons Enzo (Jerome Ponce) and Calvin (Nash Aguas), with the help of his legal wife Olivia (Eula Valdez) to maintain their good reputation.

However, just as they think their lives will go on without them knowing each other’s existence, their paths cross as they receive the worst news of their lives — Victor dies after being poisoned, and his four sons are the primary suspects for the crime.

This marks the start of Joseph, Obet, Enzo, and Calvin’s battle to prove their innocence and testify their undying love for their father against people’s judgement and accusations.

Who killed Victor? What does the future hold for the families he left? Who among his sons is the real good son?

Meanwhile, fresh from the success of his Star Cinema movie “Love You to the Stars and Back,” one of the series’ lead stars Joshua is thankful for the anticipation and support viewers have given the show even if it has not started airing yet.

“Our whole team feels pressured especially now that we are on primetime. But we will use this to motivate us to do better in our work,” said Joshua.

“The show will show how we can take care of and protect our family,” he added. “It is also intriguing that one of the family members killed our father. That is something viewers should watch out for.”

Also part of the stellar cast are this generation’s top teen actresses Loisa Andalio, Elisse Joson, and Alexa Ilacad, with seasoned stars John Estrada, Ronnie Lazaro, Jeric Raval, Alex Medina, and Kathleen Hermoso. This is under the direction of Manny Palo and Andoy Ranay.

Don’t miss the unusual case of love for family in “The Good Son,” starting this Monday (Sep 25) after “La Luna Sangre.” For more information, go fb.com/dreamscapeph and follow @DreamscapePH on Twitter and Instagram.

ABS-CBN’s newest mystery music game show “I Can See Your Voice” instantly captivated viewers as it debuted strongly on weekend primetime television, beating its rival program in national TV ratings and even trending on Twitter worldwide.

The locally adapted Korean game format from CJ E&M hosted by Luis Manzano hit a national TV rating of 19.5% last Saturday (Sep 16) compared to its rival with only 9.6%, according to data from Kantar Media. The show also earned strong viewership in its Sunday (Sep 17) slot, hitting 15.3%.

Netizens, meanwhile, raved about the show on social media and shared how they got so engaged in guessing who among the secret songers were SEE-ngers and who among them were SEE-ntunados. The overwhelming positive feedback paved the way for the show’s official hashtag #ICanSeeYourVoicePH to be among the top trending topics on Twitter worldwide that night.

“#ICanSeeYourVoicePH is fun. All of us in the house are guessing!” said @TheNathanPerez.

“Who’s just pretending to be a singer?! Hahahaha Kaloka bes!” tweeted @kathfederico_.

“Great start. The show is really fun with Luis Manzano as host plus the team SOCO. Wapak!” said @wikotweets.

“Another show to watch every weekend. Will sleep late again for this! Haha Galing!” shared @Mjoevilkean.

Even guest stars Gary Valenciano and Ogie Alcasid tweeted about how much they enjoyed being part of the program.

“This show is crazy! I love it. You know tweeps? Grabe talaga sa studio ang tawanan naming #ICanSeeYourVoicePH,” shared Gary, who successfully picked the SEE-nger in his episode.

“Thanks for watching #ICanSeeYourVoicePH Sorry mali ako ng napili. I enjoyed myself so much! Congrats @luckymanzano,” tweeted Ogie, who unfortunately picked and sang a duet with a SEE-ntunado.

“I Can See Your Voice” is the first game format to be localized by ABS-CBN in partnership with Korea’s CJ E&M. The show features six secret songers and a guest star who must guess who among the contestants is a SEE-nger (one who can sing) and who among them is a SEE-ntunado (one who cannot sing or tone deaf). To help the guest star make the cut, a group of SING-vestigators composed of Angeline Quinto, Alex Gonzaga, Kean Cipriano, Wacky Kiray and Andrew E comment and give their opinions every round.

First secret songer to be eliminated gets P5,000, second and third get P10,000 each, fourth and fifth get P15,000 each, and the last one standing wins the game and gets P25,000 cash plus a chance to sing a duet with the guest star. If the winner is a SEE-nger, he or she will automatically get to compete in “It’s Showtime’s” “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”

ABS-CBN, the first and true home of Asianovelas, heats up afternoon viewing as it tells the tale of two women who will fight for a man who loves both of them at different circumstances in “My Dearest Intruder,” premiering this Monday (Sep 25).

High school best friends Sharlene (Aggie Hsieh) and Ria (Amber An) are so close that nothing can ever come between their friendship. That is until they fall for the same man – Ria’s childhood friend, Ivan (Melvin Sia).

Ria has been madly in love with Ivan evr since she can remember, but he however, has his eyes set on Sharlene. To protect their friendship, Sharlene decides to leave and gives way to Ria.

This breaks Ivan’s heart, but Ria stands by his side and helps him mend it. Eventually, the two get married and start a life together.

After ten years, their paths once again intertwine. This time, Sharlene is ready to fight for Ivan and wants to reclaim what she thinks truly belongs to her.

Will Sharlene be able to win Ivan back? Does Ivan still has feelings for Sharlene? How will Ria protect her marriage with Ivan?

Huwag palalampasin ang pagsisimula ng “My Dearest Intruder” pagkatapos ng “ The Promise of Forever” sa Kapamilya Gold ng first and true home of Asianovelas, ang ABS-CBN.

WILL ANTON AND GRACE’S KISS BE THE LAST STRAW FOR ANDENG IN “A LOVE TO LAST”?

With Grace (Iza Calzado) stepping up her game to get Anton (Ian Veneracion) back, how far will Andeng (Bea Alonzo) to ultimately fight for love in the last three nights of ABS-CBN’s primetime series “A Love to Last”?

After having travelled with Anton to Hong Kong, Grace continues to follow Anton in Manila. Andeng unfortunately sees them together, causing another rift between the couple.

As Anton leaves for Hong Kong again, Andeng finally comes back to her senses and follows her husband to patch things up with him. A supposed surprise for Anton turns out to be a surprise for Andeng as she catches Anton and Grace kissing.

Will this be the last straw for Andeng? Will Andeng give up on love or will she keep fighting for their marriage?

Philippine reality show sweethearts Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber take it to the next level in “Loving in Tandem”

From becoming household names as the most interesting personalities to watch inside the most famous house in the Philippines, the Pinoy Big Brother House’s last season, Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber take it to the next level as they star in their first movie “Loving in Tandem” airing via TFC@theMovies starting September 21.

Once unknown teens with big dreams, Entrata and Barber, more known as MayWard, have won the hearts of viewers with their tongue-in-cheek conversations and natural chemistry.  In “Loving in Tandem” MayWard will gear up and bring this magic to the big screen in a film directed by Giselle Andres.

In the story, Entrata plays Shine, a strong and independent girl with a big heart.  She meets Filipino American Luke when the latter performs a heroic act to which the former falls for.

It turns out that Luke is the long lost brother of her neighbor Tope played by fellow PBB alumnus Marco Gallo who is for his part, in love with Shine’s friend Jayzel played by Kisses Delavin.  And there lies the romance twice the thrill.

More than the romantic angle, the movie tries to show while Shine’s life is beyond perfect, she sees the beauty in everything. Meanwhile, Luke may have been blessed with a comfortable life, he finds it hard to see the brighter side of things given his pained past.  Together the two will tread a path towards realizing that home is where the heart is, no matter how painful it can be at times.

Andres, a protégé of Olive M. Lamasan, said that while MayWard and KissMarc are new in the film industry, she admits she also learned from them.  “Bago sila, bago ako. Pero ang ganda, sabay-sabay kaming natuto. Mahirap no’ng una, pero nagbibigayan naman po, kaya later on naging mas madali at masaya (We are all new in the business.  This turned to our advantage because everything became easier and fun).

Both thought that entering the PBB House was the most challenging.  However, Entrata proved herself wrong — it was acting for film.  However, she passed with flying colors. I believed that nothing is impossible so I went for it.  I attribute all that is happening to the inspirations in my life”, Entrata ends.

Barber for his part thought that while it presented a new opportunity for him and his loveteam, it was daunting.  “Doing the movie is the scariest thing I did. I’ve never been more tired, I’ve never been more nervous, but it is the most satisfying thing I’ve done in my life”.

Also playing support were Cacai Bautista, Ryan Bang, Ketchup Eusebio, Xymon ‘Onyok’ Pineda, Thou Reyes, and Ms. Carmi Martin.

Hitch a ride to “Loving in Tandem” screening in the Papua New Guinea and Brunei on September 21; United Kingdom on September 22 until 28; Germany on September 23; Italy on September 24; Saipan starting September 22; Middle East starting September 28; Hong Kong on October 1 and Singapore on October 8.

“Loving in Tandem”

“Doing the
movie is the scariest thing I did. I’ve never been more tired, I’ve never been more nervous, but it is the most satisfying thing I’ve done in my life”.

ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) continues to bring the spotlight to Filipino culture and heritage with the launch of the documentary series “Local Legends” on Friday (September 22) at 8:30 pm.

Produced by the ABS-CBN News Docucentral, “Local Legends” aims to promote a deeper sense of pride in our country’s heritage through showcasing Filipino craftsmanship and artistry in music, food, and textiles. Each episode features a homegrown Filipino product and the master craftsmen who continue to make them to this day to preserve a tradition that has been passed on to many generations.

ABS-CBN News head and ANC managing director Ging Reyes said that through the program, they hope Filipinos will have a newfound appreciation for the “living legends” in our cultural communities.

“In Local Legends, the star is the product. Behind each piece is a story of someone who mastered their craft, their struggles, their inspiration, how they differentiate their product about the West, and their efforts to sustain their craft in a globalized market with more modern competitive means of mass production. The skills and knowledge of these living treasures must be passed down to future generations, if their craft is to be preserved,” she said.

In the pilot episode “Bandurria,“ the program brings viewers to San Antonio, Guagua, Pampanga, where guitar-making has been around for more than a century. Guitar-maker Dante De Guzman shares how he finds joy in producing quality stringed instruments and how they cope with decreasing sales due to the entry of foreign brands.

The 13-episode docuseries will also go to Ifugao, Masbate, Kalinga, and other points in the Philippines to meet the masters in making traditional Filipino products like rice wine, rhum, karne norte, the jeepney, among many others.

Behind “Local Legends,” which celebrates the passion and uncovers the struggles of Filipino master craftsmen in this age of globalization, are the makers of “Mukha,” ANC’s award-winning documentary program that has won a Silver Dolphin at the 7th Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards and was a finalist in the 2017 New York Festival Awards for International TV Programs and Films.

Watch “Local Legends” on ANC and ANC HD every Friday, 8:30 pm starting September 22. For more information, visit news.abs-cbn.com/anc, or follow ANC on Facebook and Twitter (@ANCalerts).

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” hits 43.2%…
“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” captures more Filipinos nationwide, beats new rival program

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” remains to be the most watched program in the country, its heart-pounding scenes bringing action and attracting more viewers nationwide than its new rival program.

Based on data from Kantar Media, the Kapamilya series recorded high national TV rating last Monday (Sep 18) as it hit 43.2%, beating “Super Ma’am’s” pilot episode that only garnered 18.7%. More viewers also tuned in to the Kapamilya series on Tuesday (Sep 19), hitting 43% versus its rival show’s 17.9%.

The show, which approaches its second anniversary on air, also continues to garner praises from netizens every night.

“Team #FPJAP have always delivered intense & nail biting scenes. You all deserve a round of applause,” said Twitter user @Team Apollo.

“’Ang Probinsyano’ remains number one because of the caliber of each scenes! The explosive revelations are all superb,” @MGardoze tweeted.

“’Ang Probinsyano’ never fails to give us world-class performance! You’ll be impressed with the storytelling and stellar cast every day,” @AnneDeTorres shared.

More Filipinos were hooked on the gripping scenes of “Ang Probinsyano” as Cardo (Coco Martin) saved his fellow Special Action Force members Geraldo (Ejay Falcon) and Katarina (Louise Delos Reyes) from being held hostage by Alakdan (Jhong Hilario). However, their lives are still in danger as Pulang Araw goes full force in hunting them down.

Will Cardo still have enough time to save them? Will he sacrifice his mission to save his comrades?

Don’t miss the number one primetime series in the country “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” weekdays on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167). To watch the show’s past episodes, login to iWanTV or skyondemand.com.ph for Sky subscribers.

Going for Great: Eight UAAP Players Primed for Breakouts

The UAAP Season 80 is young but there have been lots of flashes of greatness from the current crop of basketball stars in the league, which can be watched on ABS-CBN S+A and S+A HD on TV or via livestreaming at sports.abs-cbn.com. Every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, UAAP fans have been catching players making a jump to superstar level as they strive to bring glory to their school.

So far, eight players have been playing at a high level for their schools as they go for great this season. They were probably inspired by the presence of numerous greats who paraded during opening day and said to themselves, “we’ll be UAAP legends someday.”

Thirdy Ravena, Ateneo De Manila University

The younger Ravena is experiencing a major leap in his UAAP career from averaging 9.9 points a game with 7.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in Season 79. This year, the numbers are up, especially on the scoring end, as he is putting up 18 points a game with nine caroms for good measure to lead Ateneo in scoring in three games – all wins – into the season. To make matters even harder for opposing teams, Thirdy’s elite athleticism has been in full display as he seems to have harnessed his physical gifts better compared to last year’s version.

Aljun Melecio, De La Salle University

Season 79’s Rookie of the Year is reaping the benefits of an offense designed by DLSU head coach Aldin Ayo that has already proven to make scoring machines out of its backcourt players. With Ben Mbala busy playing for Cameroon in the 2017 Afrobasket, Melecio’s shackles came undone early in this season, leading to an average of 24.5 points, four rebounds, five assists, and 2.5 steals in two games. Even as Mbala returns, Melecio will figure to be a constant scoring option for Ayo, who employs an offense that allows the diminutive guard to burn the nets when he gets hot.

Jordan Bartlett, National University

The Bulldogs have a new coach, a new super athletic foreign student-athlete to replace Alfred Aroga, and a new go-to guard in Jordan Bartlett. Bartlett made up from a quiet debut when he led NU in a gallant stand against defending champs DLSU last Saturday (September 16) by pouring in 23 points in a losing effort. NU’s new head coach, Jamike Jarin, may have found the perfect complement to senior Jjay Alejandro in the back court in Bartlett, who is averaging a decent 14 points a game, 3.5 rebounds, and two assists. Who knows, teams may soon be facing down a three-headed monster in NU, with Bartlett sharing the offensive load with Alejandro and Issa Gaye.

Juan Gomez de Liano, University of the Philippines

We all expect Paul Desiderio to be UP’s main man this season but people are also excited to see the younger Gomez de Liano prove he is the future face of the Fighting Maroons. The UAAP Season 79 Juniors MVP has started making his case as the top newcomer in the league with his astounding play that does not scream “rookie” all over him. With terrific speed, athleticism, IQ, and height for someone who should be adjusting to the seniors division, the young buck has been second in scoring in UP with 10 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. One can only imagine the damage the younger Gomez de Liano can do when he has fully adjusted to the college level.

Ron Dennison, Far Eastern University

The host’s captain made a living on the defensive end from the start of his career until Season 79. In Season 80, Dennison has been the league’s leading Most Improved Player candidate as he is currently putting up a mighty impressive 15 points per game spiked with 4.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists after averaging a paltry 3.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in Season 79. Aiding Dennison’s transformation into FEU’s main offensive weapon is his ability to find seams in the defense to exploit and spot open teammates while on the fly. Make no mistake, Dennison is still one of the UAAP’s meanest lockdown defenders and continues to mark opposing teams’ best players.

Sean Manganti, Adamson Falcons

While Robbie Manalang and Kurt Lojera provide the fireworks for the very young Adamson Falcons squad, Sean Manganti’s development into a versatile forward makes them a future contender. While last season’s leading scorer Jerrick Ahanmisi has been silent and big man Papi Sarr still nursing a groin injury, Manganti has stepped up to the plate to provide his share with averages of 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Playing multiple positions on offense and defense, Manganiti simply makes Adamson more dangerous.

Marvin Lee, University of Santo Tomas

The program of UST is in a reboot right now but thanks to Marvin Lee and transferee Steve Akomo, the Tigers can’t be counted out for a shot at the Final Four. Lee has been exceptional for Boy Sablan’s supposedly offensively-challenged Tigers this season. The junior guard has been a spitfire churning out 17 points a game with 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals an outing while waxing hot from downtown with a 41.7% clip. However, aside from him and Akomo, UST needs to find another consistent option to contend for the title.

Clark Derige, University of the East

University of the East continues to claw its way back to the top of the UAAP after the Paul Lee era of the Recto-based squad. The light at the end of the tunnel looks to be fourth year player Clark Derige who has already improved form his 4.5 points a game average last season, after a strong sophomore year. This year, Derige has been putting in 16 points and 4.3 rebounds to the Red Warriors, which were perennial Final Four contenders during the days of James Yap, Paul Artadi, Paul Lee, and Mark Borboran.

Catch them and their fellow student-athletes as they #GoForGreat this UAAP Season 80 every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting at 2pm on S+A and S+A HD. Be inspired by their stories on and off the court on “Upfront at the UAAP,” which airs every Satruday and Sunday at 1:30pm.  For more news, features, and live streaming, visit sports.abs-cbn.com or follow @ABSCBNSports on Twitter and Facebook.

“Lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila, magic is an art.

Value of passion and dedication, inspiring family stories highlighted in “Little Big Shots”

While ABS-CBN’s top-rating talent-variety and talk show “Little Big Shots” showcases the talent and charm of kids, it also draws viewers every weekend for teaching the value of loving one’s craft and showing heartwarming moments between kids and their parents.

“I always tell them, magic is an art. You need to protect it because if you don’t love your craft, nothing will happen,” shared Melbourne, father of nine-year-old magician Kyla. “You need to love it so that when you perform, you’ll enjoy it. You have to practice constantly so it’s perfect when you show it to the people,” he added.

Aside from promoting the value of passion and dedication, the show also takes parents center stage to show how providing a supportive and encouraging environment allows kids to reach their full potential.

“We are here to support him as he reaches for his dreams,” said biker John-John’s mom, whose son thrilled viewers with his death-defying stunts.

Wanlu, father of marionettist Eli, also shared his advice with parents whose kids have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD): “Just trust in God and support whatever they want to do and interested in. Just try to find their hidden talent.”

The show also features inspiring and heartwarming stories about families that bring viewers to tears. Hulahoop dancer Jane, at 13, already helps her parents send her siblings to school with the prize money she brings home from joining competitions. Her mother Glen, tearing up, called her a “gift from God.”

Eleven-year-old Marky’s appearance also produced one of the most tear-jerking moments in the show, as his siblings, who are also headspinners, came along with him to cheer him on and promised their parents to use their skill to help their family.

Fun and emotional moments make the show a consistent weekend top-rater. According to data from Kantar Media, “Little Big Shots” recorded a national TV rating of 32.5% last Saturday (Sep 16) versus its rival program “Pepito Manaloto Ang Tunay Na Kuwento’s” 19.9%. On Sunday (Sep 17), it was the most watched program in the country with with 34.6%, while “All Star Videoke” only got 17.8%.

“Super Ving” to showcase power of kindness…
Awra uses love and courage to end Bianca’s evil ploys in “Wansapanataym” finale

Super Ving (Awra) uses love and courage to save the world and defeat the leader of evil forces Reptilya (Bianca Manalo) in a grand battle in the final week of “Wansapanataym Presents: Amazing Ving” this Sunday (Sep 24).

With so much love for his mother, Super Ving bravely surrendered to Reptilya and gave the magical stone to the evil monster in exchange for setting Soffy (Carmi Martin) free. However, just when she thinks she is already set to rule the world, Reptilya discovers the magical stone she has is fake and powerless, which infuriates her enough to harm more innocent people, including Super Ving’s friends Chelsea (Kisses Delavin) and Warren (Marco Gallo).

With the powers of the real magical stone, Super Ving will face Reptilya and use his superpowers to destroy her and her minions. But Reptilya still has some tricks up her sleeve as she now makes the superhero’s father Cris (Roderick Paulate) as her minion to pit him and Ving against each other.

Can Super Ving fight his own father? Does Reptilya have more evil surprises? Will the power of kindness be enough to defeat the forces of evil?

Ylona Garcia, MOR Pinoy Music Awards’ recently hailed Female Artist of the Year, is ready to make her mark in the Philippine concert scene with her very first solo major concert, “Arrival: Ylona Garcia,” on October 21 (Saturday) at the Music Museum.

The Filipino-Australian singer, who also won MOR’s “LSS Hit of the Year” award for the “O Pag-ibig” song collaboration with Bailey May, is all set to showcase her exceptional vocals for an exciting concert produced by Star Events and Aqueous Entertainment.

The 15-year old singer and songwriter rose to fame in 2015 because of her bubbly personality and great singing voice which viewers loved in ABS-CBN’s hit reality program Pinoy Big Brother 737, and she successfully went on to become the show’s 2nd teen big placer.

Now, the Kapamilya teen star is expected to bring the house down in this much-awaited musical production that follows the success of her first digital One Music PH concert held last year.

She is slated to perform cuts from her “My Name is Ylona Garcia” debut album released in 2016 under Star Music, as well as surprise performances that will uncover the ASAP BFF5 member’s versatility in music.

Alexa Ilacad, Krissha Viaje, Inigo Pascual, Bryan Chong, Janah Zaplan, and other surprise guests will be joining Ylona for this momentous evening.

Tickets to “Arrival: Ylona Garcia” are priced at P2,650 (VIP), P2,350 (patron), and P1,600 (balcony). For inquiries, call Music Museum at 721.6726, SM Tickets at 470.2222 or log on to smtickets.com.

Fans are looking forward to the television comeback of Maricel Soriano in “MMK” this Saturday (Sep 23) with JC De Vera in an episode about a mother and her adopted son who are bound not by blood but by love.

“When I read the script, I cried a lot,” said Maricel in an interview with “TV Patrol,” “The story is so moving and it really touches the heart. “

The Diamond Star added that she was also moved by the lesson the episode is trying to impart to its viewers, “Let us not be ashamed of who we are, what we are, and where we come from. We have nothing else but our own names that is why we should take good care of it.”

Maricel’s last “MMK” episode was aired 14 years ago and she was last seen by Kapamilyas in the movie “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” back in 2013.

In the episode, Maricel plays Guily. Ever since she adopted the little boy from her niece, Guily (Maricel) has always treated Jayson as her own. It did not take long for Jayson to find out the truth about his identity after he noticed he was using a surname different from his parents’.

After knowing that his biological mother was still alive, Jayson grew up longing to meet her. Being a child out of wedlock, Guily fully understood what he was going through, so one day, she accompanied him to his mother Chona (Dimples Romana). Jayson’s much awaited moment, however, did not happen how he pictured it to be.

What happened when Jayson finally came face-to-face with Chona? How did the encounter affect his life?

Joining this upcoming episode are Lito Pimentel, Lui Villaraz, Menggi Cobarrubias, Louise Abuel, Raikko Mateo, Michael Roy Journales, Wynril Banaag, and Perry Escaño . The episode is directed by Dado Lumibao and written by Jaymar Santos Castro. “MMK” is led by business unit head Roda C. dela Cerna and  Star Creatives COO Malou Santos.
