TFC CONNECT TAKES ON A NEW VIBE AS IT CELEBRATES NINE YEARS OF KEEPING FILIPINOS CLOSE

This June, The Filipino Channel (TFC) celebrates nine years of its longest-running program exclusively made for overseas Filipinos (OFs), “TFC Connect,” as it continues to keep them close to the homeland and their loved ones.  “TFC Connect” will also take on a new vibe, starting this July,

The program which started in 2007 as a program guide hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, which updated viewers on what to expect in the coming week on the premier network, “TFC Connect” has evolved to become a program that provides a link between OF and their families in the Philippines through segments such as “MissMo” and “Kapamilya Treats.”  The program, hosted by Dimples Romana starting in 2013, also became the platform for the Filipino talent to shine, through segments such as “Kids of the Week,” and “Bida Guest.”

According to Herbs Samonte, ABS-CBN Global Content Production and Development Group Head, through the years, “TFC Connect” has transcended its role from an exclusive program to a conduit not only between the OFs and those they hold dear, but also between them and their country.  He says: “For close to a decade, “TFC Connect” has become the hub of everything Filipino and has become the champion of values and traditions that make us who we are, wherever we may be.”

“As we celebrate our anniversary this June and unveil a new season this quarter, we want to be more inclusive reaching out even to the younger members of the family and of our audience,” Samonte adds.

Starting on the first week of July, “TFC Connect” takes on a new look and feel to reach out to the second generation OFs who may have been born overseas or were born here but have migrated overseas.

“TFC Connect” will take on a new format with more interactive segments and will welcome new host and youtube star, Wil Dasovich.  Dasovich is a 24-year-old Filipino-American who personifies the 2^nd gen OF.  He has been shuttling between the Philippines and the U.S. for three years and the “TFC Connect” stint may just make him stay.

The new host will bring Kapamilyas to ABS-CBN shows to see how they work behind the cameras.  The host will travel to chosen OF families’ hometown and immerse in the local culture and reminisce some of the things the OF families may have missed as they led their lives overseas.  It will also be Dasovich’s own immersion as well.

To join the segments, OF families are encouraged to submit a video on the reasons why they should be the next families to be featured.

“TFC Connect” airs Mondays to Fridays worldwide.  The show’s anniversary celebration starts this June while its new look and segments will be launched on July 4.

TFC Connect, siyam na taon nang nag-uugnay sa mga overseas Filipinos at kanilang pamilya

Ipagdiriwang ng The Filipino Channel (TFC) ang ika-siyam na taon ng longest-running exclusive program nitong “TFC Connect” ngayong Hunyo, sa patuloy nitong paglalapit ng mga overseas Filipinos (OFs) sa Pilipinas at sa kanilang mga minamahal sa buhay.  Kasabay ng selebrasyon na ito ang paglunsad ng bagong “TFC Connect” ngayong Hulyo.

Nagsimula noong 2007 bilang program guide tampok si Bianca Gonzalez, pinagibayo ng”TFC Connect” ang misyon nitong paglapitin ang OFs at kanilang pamilya sa pamamagitan nga mga segments tulad ng “MissMo” at “Kapamilya Treats.”  Tampok ang Kapamilya actress na si Dimples Romana simula 2013, nagbigay-daan din ang show para sa ipakita ang Filipino talent sa segments tulad ng “Kids of the Week,” at “Bida Guest.”

Ayon kay Herbs Samonte, ABS-CBN Global Content Production and Development Group Head, nagumpisa ang programa na nagbibigay kaalaman tungkol sa mga programa ng TFC. Simula ngayong taon, magiging paraan ang programa para pag-ugnayin ang mga Filipino sa kanilang lupang tinubuan at mga mahal sa buhay sa Pilipinas. “For close to a decade, ‘TFC Connect’ has become the hub of everything Filipino and has become the champion of values and traditions that make us who we are, wherever we may be,” ayon sa kaniya.

Simula ngayong Hulyo, muling pagiibayuhin ng TFC Connect ang program offerings nito para mas maaabot ang mga second generation OFs na ipinanganak na sa ibang bansa o ipinanganak man sa Pilipinas ay namuhay na sa ibang bansa.

Sa bagong  TFC Connect, may interactive segments tampok si Will Dasovich, isang 24-year old youtube star na 2^nd generation OF din katulad ng bagong viewers ng programa, dahil ipinanganak siya sa U.S. ngunit patuloy nanatiling Pinoy sa kaniyang puso.  Halos tatlong taon na siyang pababalik-balik sa Pilipinas at mistulang magatatagal pa dahil sa “TFC Connect.”

Dadalhin ng “TFC Connect” ang mga Kapamilya sa ABS-CBN shows upang ipakita kung ano ang nagaganap sa likod ng camera.

Patuloy namang dadalhin ng show ang mga piling Kapamilya sa kanilang hometown para balikan ang kanilang mga kinalakihan at nami-miss. Paraan din ito para ma-immerse din si Dasovich sa iba’t-ibang parte ng bansa.

Para maging bahagi ng segments na ito, maaaring mag-submit ang mga Kapamilya ng video kung bakit sila ang nararapat na susunod na itatampok sa “TFC Connect.”
